I was asked to design an app which would allow users to book storage space and manage it from their smart phone. I also worked on developing their existing brand identity as part of the brief.
Brand Development / App Design
I began by experimenting with different typefaces. It's important for me to create a clear typographic hierarchy before starting to design the screen layouts. I felt the colour palette was a little bit limited so I added some more tints to broaden it. Having these guidelines in place helped in styling the app.
It was agreed that in the first phase the user would be able to find, book and manage a storage space. Later phases would include features such as the ability to gain access to the building and unlock the space with a smart phone.
Each user flow within the app was meticulously drawn up into diagrams and critiqued by the development team. I worked closely with them to ensure the plans would deliver a postive UX.
I started to develop an illustrative style to further the brand's development. As the Store Room logo already featured a space rocket, we agreed that we would explore the idea of space further. The images were applied to graphics and achievement badges in the app. The client used them when creating their marketing materials.
